How to Make a Protected Disclosure

Section 8547.1 of the Government Code, known as the California Whistleblower Protection Act, declares that state employees should be free to report waste, fraud, abuse of authority, violation of law, or threat to public health without fear of retribution. If you are an employee or applicant for employment at SFSU, you can submit a hard copy of the Form for Allegation of Improper Governmental Activities to Audit & Advisory Services, ADM 258. Your protected disclosure must be submitted no later than thirty (30) days after the event giving rise to the protected disclosure or no later than thirty (30) days after knowing or reasonably knowing of the event.

The Associate Vice President of Audit & Advisory Services, or a delegated representative, shall acknowledge receipt of the written protected disclosure in writing within ten (10) days of receipt.
